Still…

February 16th, 2015

While the signals may or may not have returned to normal as quickly as I thought in the last entry, it seems that they returned to normal yesterday and this evening, more or less  – as far as I can tell; with neither being overly impressive in strength, however.  But it is unusual to hear both of the saints loudly and clearly at the same spot and at the same time.  I don’t recall such a scenario – but it could just be a directional sort of thing that I haven’t encountered in the past.  Maybe by the end of the year I will try to get some real equipment.

Interesting Times?

February 13th, 2015.

This latest on-going scenario could well prove to be of interest (on-going as of last night anyhow).  But I’m not sure because it all could have been a directional thing.  I am also not sure where the high pressure system is actually located so not sure which way the winds may have been blowing when I checked last night.  But SD seemed particularly weak – though maybe not excessively weak.  With the high pressure overhead or slightly to the east, this would seem as though it should not be the case.  But SB was relatively strong, so it could all have been a result of the location of the passing high pressure system.  So again, it could all be a result of a directional force.  Otherwise, this could prove to be an interesting scenario – but not sure with the odd weather systems already over the Heartland.  Either way, I’ll go listen again this evening.

But alas, in the interim between the above paragraph and this one, I went to listen from a less-than-desirable listening point and it seems all is returning to normal, maybe, more or less.  Nevertheless, this is what I am interested in most.  That is, when there is a glitch in various magnetic signatures (if you will) and its duration and whether there is any follow-on severe weather elsewhere.  I will re-check it all again a little later this evening.

So say hello, if you interested to hear more or relay your own ideas on the matter.  :)

Strange Again

January 26th, 2014

Signals have been odd for some period of time.  Maybe like for the last week.  Hearing both SD and SB in some spots and then hearing neither at some time later at the same spot.  Then at other times, like last night, both seemed weak at the best spot for hearing them.

Back to the Norm

January 7th, 2015

As of last night, the signals seem to have been back to normal over the last two days or so.  With the exception of some minor weakened signals yesterday, SD seems to be of a fairly strong signal strength.  High pressure currently seems to be dominating in the area and during the last two days or so also.

Odd Combinations

December 28th, 2014

There have been odd signal combinations over this passing long Christmas Holiday weekend.  SD started out strong but now seems weakened but still manages to push through, weak as it is (a weakness which I would not have predicted by the higher than normal pressures over this timeframe).  However, often at the same time SB can be heard across the middle in locations where one would only expect to hear one or the other, at best; as usually SD would tend to dominate at that location.  It’s almost as if the scenario changes from moment to moment, to some extent.  But SD is still weak, regardless.  It doesn’t seem in keeping with any directional forces of the passing and approaching pressure systems – which seem to be following odd paths, according to the 11 o’clock nightly news.  What’s more, the pressure has not been very low or nearly as low as expected for as weak as SD is being heard – which might normally signal problematic air masses for the heartland, according to my model/hypothesis/theory.  (But maybe it’s the delta/change in pressure that matters, as I postulated before, nevertheless and not really the signal strength.)  But I do wonder if the reported solar flares that happened at the beginning of the weekend may have had any effect on the situation.
